Drop this script on any prim to see the face numbers.
To use the script just drop it onto a prim. The script will save all of the current texture and color information and then display the face number on each face. After 10 seconds it will restore the textures and colors on each side and delete itself.
The script has copy permission so you can make as many copies as you need.
