Subtle - very atmospheric :)
I love this item - the sound is so atmospheric and relaxing. I don't agree with the previous reviewer that it is too quiet. For my fireplace, it is ideal. I also love the way I can use as many copies as I like - and I've used them on the beach for a bonfire and also at a friend's house. So its good value too. :)

sound could be louder, had to rez 2-3 of them to be able to hear it properly
