This wearable weapon is mainly intended for use in battle between pirates vs. merfolk (mermaids, mermen) in the depths below with their tridents and mounts. While depth charges didn't exist in that era, I can imagine if pirates had to battle an underwater foe, they could easily have created this out of a powder keg and fuse.
It comes with an animated and non-animated version for your preference.
