Loa of the dead, a Guede spirit, along with Baron Cimetiere, Baron La Croix, and Baron Kriminel. Baron Samedi is the gravedigger - if he refuses to dig your grave, you do not die. Master of the dead, great magician and healer; can dispel curses and black magic. Prefers black, white and purple; favors cigars, rum, black coffee and bread. His wife is the loa Maman Brigitte. Cognate with St. Martin de Porres.
