Changó/Shango/Xango.Sango
Lord of Thunder, lightning, fire, the drums, and the dance. A warrior, the symbol of masculinity and virility. Quick-witted and quick-tempered, he carries a double-headed axe. Associated with the Royal Palm tree; his colors are red and white, his numbers are 4 and 6. Cognate with St. Barbara the Martyr (Santa Barbara).
A human king who was deified after death, he is one of the most popular orishas. He is cognate with St. Barbara, a virgin Christian martyr whose colors are red and white, who was beheaded with an axe, and whose killer was destroyed by lighting.
