The trails use the new particle options to actually appear as a 3D ribbon, so a new viewer is required to fully appreciate the effect.

How to use:
1) Just add them to your avatar
2) You can make additional copies of the objects and attach them to any point you wish, just remember to move and turn them to the right angle using the edit tool afterwards
3) Attach the HUD to configure the effect

The top left button on the HUD minimizes and restores it, and the top right one restores default settings. Rest of the controls are labeled, slide and poke them around and see what happens!

I love these trails they work brilliantly on my KZK renamon V2 as ethereal flames, its a shame you cant attach things to a flexi tail or I'd have an extra one on the tail.
I actually contacted the creator about this, what a wonderful person, happy cheery and willing to pose ideas on other ways to get the effect I wanted I really do recommend talking to them if you have any ideas or just want to say friendly hello ^.^ wuffs chu Frionella yous my friend now.
