Infinity Freight Trains v1.3
------------------------------------

Built to run on the Second Life Rail Road and any other railroad of that setup, including Bellisseria and also Bibian's track system.
Try the demo on the SLURL below.

The trains from Infinity Freight take a new look at the principles of running a train on the SLRR - each train is a one-object linkset.
Many trains have previously made use of 'follower' scripts in loose wagons and coaches, and then those follow the locomotive along the tracks.

With the Infinity trains, the wagons are fully attached to the locomotive, and update their positions to stay on the tracks, and follow the loco everywhere it goes. This now makes riding a train almost as quick and convenient as rezzing a car to go for a drive :)

If you play GTFO! (get the freight out) in-world, then the trains are fully game-ready for you, with full GTFO function built-in, straight out of the box. Cargo loads and unloads automatically - crates, logs and minerals loading gradually in stages when you take a freight job.
There is a free version of the GTFO! game if you want to try it out, see the in-world vendor.
Also join the Get The Freight Out! group - its full of cool people!

3 wagon and 5 wagon versions included
Wagons linked to the loco and self-update their positions on the track
Wagons with heavy crates
Wagons with mineral loads
Wagons with lumber loads
Wagons with liquids tankers
Fully GTFO! game ready built-in (requires GTFO hud available separately)
Fuel consumption and speed are affected by apparent load 'weight'
Hide or show the cargo by manual or GTFO control
Mineral wagons - click each wagon to change from coal to other loads
'Pack Away' system to reduce train size, helps re-rezz in small rez zones

ALSO in the pack :
- Heterocera Railroads Map HUD -
This is a map of the SLRR on the Heterocera Atoll continent, with a map marking system to help you navigate and work out how to get to the rails-less-travelled! Just wear the hud, and click for its menu.
Now updated with place names on the map.

-
If you just want to go for a ride with no wagons, there is a separate Locomotive in the folder, this has no cargo options.

Also included is a texture template for the wagons so you can customise, and a 'modifiers guide' to help with other customisation, telling you what will work and what won't.
Logos are on separate texture faces so you can re-brand them easily.
Instructions are included in the modifiers guide of how to make up your own train with a mix of different wagons. This requires a bit of unlinking / relinking prims - if you struggle with this IM me for help :)

Try the demo train at the rezzer, it is linked to the SLRR so you can go for a little journey!

In the package :
- separate locomotive, to just go for a ride
- 5 trains of 3 wagons
- 5 trains of 5 wagons
- heavy crates / minerals / logs / tankers / mixed wagons
- interactive map HUD of the Atoll railroads
- instructions / quickstart guide / modifiers guide
- wagon texture template (for personal use only, not to be re-sold)
- landmarks of rail yards to rez trains & re-fuel

Land Impact :
Loco only : 46 LI
Loco + 3wagons train : 110 to 119 LI
Loco + 5wagons train : 153 to 167 LI

Permissions :
Trains / loco : Prims/mesh are mod & copy. Scripts copy only.
Hud : copy only

LOD (level of detail) :
Carefully set LOD so it does not crunch into a bunch of triangles as you zoom out, even on moderate graphics settings.

Includes free updates, and also to keep with the development of GTFO!

Any questions pop me an IM or a notecard :)

Truely Superior Performance
full star full star full star full star full star Posted May 19, 2018 by Iris Herouin

I normally do not write reviews but this product is exceptional in its high performance and
quality. There are many trains in Secondlife but almost all fall in one of three catagories.
There are trains that do not function and are decorative only. There fully functional but
single vehicle locomotives and trolleys with no carriages. And there are multiple vehicle
trains that use follower scripts to keep their carriages together and in order. None of the
these work properly on the public mainland railway systems. The first don't move, the second
are nothing but buses on rails and the last though they work ok at slow speeds in single
regions with well behaved switches and no other traffic, simply can not hold themselves
together on the public mainland railway systems. The many SIM crossings, unpredictable switches and other train traffic cause them to decouple and fall apart with their carriages running away or lost to crashes. This linked object coupled train is the only one in Second Life that I know of and have used that works properly as a train should. It can be used full speed on the SLRR and never loses its carriages. Additionally, it looks good, holds its tracks well, is
reasonably priced and can be copied and modified. Also, when I had a question the creator got
back to me right away. The bottom line, if you want a train that looks and works like a train should and still use it on the mainland rail system, then this is the train for you. I love it, and I am hoping the creator will offer more modding options and add ons for it as future products.

Awesome!

I've always loved trains in real life and second life! I have always enjoyed going for long runs down the SLRR! I have been hoping for more mesh trains and until now I've given up on the hope of a quality mesh train that could pull cars or carriages behind it. This train is amazing! It's wonderfully meshed, not a seam or crumpled spot anywhere! The fluidity of the trailing cars behind the locomotive is perfectly done! I do prefer steam locomotives and really hope that this creator will make a steam locomotive that can pull GTFO cargo or passenger carriages that others can ride in, I can only imagine how wonderful that train would be if this creator made it! Please consider it! I'm very happy with this wonderful train and would suggest to anyone that they should buy it if they enjoy the SLRR!

Watched this train start out from nothing more than a bunch of prims to what it is now. Claire really out did herself. Opening doors, windows, GTFO compatible and can seat multiple people for you to take that special someone on a train ride. Oh, not to mention how smooth and easy it crosses sim lines. Simply fantastic!

This is my first train and its lovely. The way the cars are connected I dont need to be afraid that I loose em during a sim crossing. Now I can enjoy the railways in SL too and go even further in the game GTFO (get the freight out). For these lindens you get a lot!
