*** Do i have to turn AO OFF to use the typing book?
NO, the typing book is compatible with your AO. The writing animation only interact with your head, arms and hands. If you consider it does not fit your legs movements, well...turn ao off ;)
[EDIT 2020] Most AO have now a priority level that will force you to turn it OFF so please be aware of it before purchase&comment :)
*** I can't see my typing book and my feather pen, is it normal?
YES, they only appears while you're writing something in the local chat. If you don't touch your keyboard, nothing happens. it is the "Typing Object" concept ;)
*** I wear my typing book but it doesn't work, can you help?
Stupid Answer : Do you wear your Feather Pen? it won't work if you don't wear both...

Please make a verification manip :
Go to SL Menu Bar >> Edit >> Preferences
Select Text Chat >> Enable "Play typing animation when chatting"

I bought this Typing Book for RP and sadly it did not work like I had hoped. If you use a Vista AO it's probably not going to work for you. I left a review and the creator messaged me back inworld to address the issue... which was really nice of her. I'm anxiously waiting an update of this Typing Book because it's super cute.
