The Road Builder is a system that allows versatile road construction, however it is important to understand its method and the limitations.
The second life Snap to Grid functionality can be used to position the parts. A 0.125 grid setting will allow to snap most of the parts in place.

All parts are meant to be placed in the X and Y directions of the SL grid.
One exception is the Diagonal part that is used to connect 45' bends.
The set has a Left and a Right Bend part each with a 45' turn, together forming a 90' turn.
Bend REZSETs with pre-rotated and linked bends have been included for easy acces.

There are 2 sets of Slopes, one with 15 and one with 30 degrees inclination.
The lowest elevation is 4m, apart from that any elevation in meters can be achieved.

Space parts can be used to create parking lots and open spaces. Use the Assembled ones as a guidance how to approach this.
Ground parts can be used to place a floor surface matching a road part.

The set also includes several cut-up parts to accommodate different circumstances.

Normal Width = 14m (8.5m road + 2x2.75m sidewalk)
The flat Straight and Diagonal parts can be stretched in length up to 64m, keeping Land Impact cost at 0.5.
Resizing parts to create wider roads is possible. (Default=14m - Large=21m - XLarge=28m)

Upscaling will gradually increase the Land Impact of the more complex parts like the Bend, Crossroad, T-split, Rise part etc. The Land Impact of the more simple parts is unaffected by upscaling.
Shrinking length or width more than 50 % may bring the lower LODs too close into view (depending on the viewer LOD Factor setting). This might result in deformation of the object and its textures.

The manual contains:

A - Info on UV layouts and Texturing
B - How to Assemble the parts.
C - Working with the Bend parts
D - Constructing Slopes
E - Resizing Instructions
F - Overview of the parts
G - Info on Bug VWR-2567

The Road Builder is also available as a package including 5 different textured sets. (Mod-Copy / No Transfer, A2 UV set only)

Okay.. Good roads
full star full star full star empty star empty star Posted August 02, 2013 by Connor McGregor

Well, I like the roads, physics are correct, no errors or bounding box problems such as in the U.R mesh roads. I'd recommend these over them however, where it lacks is:

No Dead End pieces.
No 2 way pieces.
No Extra Sidewalk pieces (To even make a dead end.)

It needs these to make it a perfect pack.

3/5 stars.
good enough to buy. Okay to use.
