After two andirons made by Claude Pitoin for Madame Adelaide's bedroom in 1775.

Made in gilt bronze and exquisitely decorated with lauren garlands, mascarons Greco-latin military trophies and an urn.

During 18th century Andirons served as multipurpose pieces, being keeping the fire logs in place the main but also providing a luxury piece to look at and also as perfume burners since the decorative urns were usually hollow as to fill them with parfum.
