KCP Ringer Plugin for Sculpt Studio
The Ringer plugin makes a round ring or portion of a ring out of a range (or even all) of your slices.
The Ringer by default automatically "caps" off the ends with an extra slice to be set to Pole, so you can have a perfectly round and separate segment to your sculpt.
It is preset with a full circle, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 2/3, 3/4 and a custom amount. Pretty much just set the radius from the menu and press Start.
There are options to reverse the direction if you need an inverted segment, as well as creating the ring in an up,down, left or right path from your starting slice.
I wanted a faster and easier way to set up and prepare custom sections of a sculpt with circular curvature for making wheel rims, fenders, paired tires and so on.
To use is fairly simple, drop the plugin in your studio. After you rez your slices, rez the plugin it from the SS menu.
Give it a couple of seconds to connect to your slices and then select your slice range from the menu "Range ...", pick a radius(size), and hit Start.
In most cases you will want the "capping" on that starts and ends with the extra slice for your Pole slice, but the Ringer will calculate your ring or ring portion to fit your choses size with or without the capping enabled.
For example; if you selected a slice range from 16-31, you would load your pole into 16 and 31 and then choose Start from the plugin.
The Plugin actually would calculate and create the full ring or partial ring from slices 17-30 (connecting ends if doing a full) with the pole slices 16 and 31 in place.
The plugin does not automatically load in your Pole slices, you will probably want to do that first before pressing Start.
If you do a full 360 degree circle ring using ALL slices, capping will turn off and the end slices will not overlap and 'waste" a slice.
The minimum amount of slices this plugin needs in a selection to produce any reasonably usable results is 8 with the ends capped.
Direction (forward or backward/inverted) and Course (up/down/left/right) can be toggled from the menu by hitting Path for the Path menu.
Course direction is relative to the orientation and forward face of your starting slice, and not literal. "Up" is outward and away from your slice seam and "Down" is inward toward it.
Custom ring section range of degrees can also be entered if desired.
This plugin doesn't do anything fancy as far as twists or coils, just circular arrangements and you must load any custom slices yourself including poles.
