NEW VERSION 2.0

A flyable replica of the famous Mach 3+ spy plane from the cold war era. The Blackbird first flew in 1964, and was well-known for its capabilities as a high-altitude, long range reconnaissance aircraft before it was retired in 1999 . Seats two.

The rear seat in the real SR-71 is a Reconnaissance Systems Officer (RSO) position, in charge of navigation and imaging systems. In SL, our back seat is a fully functional co-pilot seat.

This version of the Blackbird is designed for a specific purpose - to minimize lag and loss of aircraft at region crossings at high speeds, both of which are issues that are known to plague SL aviators. The goal is to produce the best high-speed endurance flying aircraft in SL.

This plane features an entirely new script package designed to make the plane fly as smoothly as possible. The plane has fully functional control surfaces, canopies, and wheels, and new, more realistic engine effects. And this mesh assembly was an attempt to optimize for smooth region-crossing, and to strike the best balance between land impact and LOD. The physical plane is modify, but for best performance it's advisable to leave the aircraft in its original configuration. Scripts are no-mod.

Manual included. You will find the answers to most questions there, so we ask that you check the manual before contacting us for technical support. If there is a question that is not answered by the manual, contact Lucifera Morningstar via notecard, and you will get a response as soon as possible.

Really is a joy to fly. If you get any jet for use in SL it should be this one.

Simply the best sim carving airplane in Second Life!

Smoothest flight experience while crossing sims. Ultra low prim but still detailed enough to turn heads. Capable of speeds in excess of the Second Life server limit for moving objects at server changes, which can be fun if you want to try and set a record for sim crossings. To enable that mode you just type "n***" in local chat to set the throttle with numbers in excess of 100. Have tested up to n1000 (not recomended) but have successfully crossed 20 sims using n500 which is blisteringly fast. Its also a handy feature to set throttle quickly for landing or takeoff (example: n35, and n80 respectively) instead of having to manually throttle the airplane. The scripts are ultra low lag and flight physics is great. In an ideal world I would like to see more working guages, but that would add to the script count thanks to LL not being quite where it needs to be for smooth sim crossings in SL, and the beauty of this airframe is its ulra low lag. I cannot say this enough as a pilot in SL who flies commercial and combat sims - there is no airplane in SecondLife that I have flown or flown in with as little lag as this, only the NOE Breguet biplane comes anywhere close to this for smoothness. The seller will also apparently be updating the plane soon and pushing the updates out to MP buyers. Buy this plane!

True to its name - fastest jet in SL!

After reading about the famous SR-71 Blackbird on the internet, and discovering its record of being the fastest jet on record, even to this day, I became very interested to see if there was any model of it in SL. Surprisingly, this is the only flyable SR-71 model I could find - and I am very familiar with most of the other prominent military aircraft builders in SL. My very first test flight was to see whether this model was true to its real life counterpart, in flight control and speed. I was not disappointed! I have flown many jets in SL and I can say this updated version of the SR-71 is the fastest jet on the grid. This is thanks to the builder's addition of chat commands that allow the pilot to set the speed all the way up to a whopping 500% throttle. The fastest I could reasonably get it to go without having sim-crossing issues was about 200% throttle, but that is plenty fast enough to set your hair on fire. But this plane also has versatility in that it not only flies smoothly at very high speeds, but also at very slow speeds, which is great for landing. It also has a yaw control for easier turning at higher or lower speeds. If you're interested in owning the best representation of the classic SR-71, look no further. You can safely purchase this model - it's well worth the price.

Simple and sweet

Of all the planes I've got in my aerial arsenal, this has to be hands down the most reliable favorite I have. Smooth and efficient, simple and responsive controls, I will fly to the ends of the grid if I could in this thing.
.
One minor note that I hope could be updated in the fire is for maybe the speeds to be boosted just slightly? I understand we're talking about a 1960's spy plane that was normally flying in at a cruise in the atmosphere that was formerly unthinkable but come on, my jet powered scooter is faster than this thing!
.
But that aside, I can't sing praises for this enough and it even (at time of writing review) managed to get me the 4th place of landing quality at the Denmark Airport and I expect it could do the same if not first place for a more experienced grid pilot.
