This is a script for a little Ship Bell that rings on touch and
it shouts "Ahoy!" or your own message (e.g. "Happy Sailing!")
• Installation:
I recommend to make a backup of your boat.
- Edit the Boat, tick "Edit Linked" (dont unlink the boat)
- Select the desired prim for touch and sound Ship Bell.
- Put the Ship Bell script into its content
Thats it.
• Note:
It will temporarily rename that prim to your name or display name.
If your Displayname has special character letters, it may not show that letters correctly.
In that case please use the alternative script "Ship Bell Script (username only)"
which will use your username. If you need help with this, contact me please, i'll happy to help.
I recommend to put this script not into the root prim.
Also make sure the description field of that object is not used for other purposes.
• How to Change Message:
If the Description field is empty, then the default message is "Ahoy!".
But you can change that:
Edit (linked) the prim and put your text into the Description field of that prim.
For example enter "Happy Sailing" into the description field.
This will make it shout: "[Your Name] shouts: Happy Sailing!"

Had a static bell attached to my boathouse (it even had a little static striker hanging inside it), but no sound would ring. Now this beautiful little idea has brought that static bell to life.
It includes 2 scripts; one for if your username has unusual characters, and one for your regular SL name. The bell has 2 short clear-sounding bells and the dialog on screen announces that you have cried "Ahoy!"

Great Product!
I wanted a simple gesture that would shout Ahoy to passing boats. While looking i came across this little beauty. It didn't work correctly at first but it was an issue with my avatar name, a fast IM to the creator got me a working script plus one custom with my name in the script. The creator is pleasant, professional and responds fast. A great product at an unbeatable price, must buy!!
