NOTE: You should have some understanding of scripting, or have a friend nearby who has some understanding of LSL scripts. I've tried to make it easy and keep the process as transparent as possible.

You MUST have full permissions for the items to get the texture information. This is a requirement for LSL commands like llGetTexture and for texture UUID information from llGetPrimitiveParams.

Three simple scripts for retexturing your objects by HUD:

1. The Texture Find and Send script. This is the script that does the real work, taking your creative efforts in setting your textures and coloring, and translating it into LSL commands so you can automate it in other scripts. The script relays color and texture information as llSetLinkPrimitiveParams commands, and you can use it to retexture clothing items by HUD with the other two scripts in this package, or you may decide to use that information to change textures (and color) by touch, or with a timer. Once the Find & Send script is in the item you're texturing, just click it, and that part of your code is automatically done for you, and sent to Nearby Chat (for cutting and pasting into other scripts).

2. A Texture Receiver script set up in a format where your texture information can be pasted as user defined functions. This script goes into a final product, and automatically generates a listen channel set up to communicate with a scripted HUD.

3. A HUD button script that can be used with the included 8 face panel prim which communicates with the Texture Receiver script, and lets you change the textures of your object with the press of a button.

All scripts can be modified to accommodate various needs. The scripts in their original format will apply the texturing information to an entire linkset, (so make sure your test and final linksets have the same exact link order). The 8-face button mesh is limited to 8 selections, but (with minor modifications to the script) can be combined with additional 8 button meshes on a single HUD (linked to a HUD, you can have 16, 24, 36, etc. buttons set up for texture changing). The images on the buttons can be changed to or even made completely transparent.

easy to set up fast

i like lists to store primitive param data and this uses functions but it still saves time to get the information no matter how its stored. the pictures in the mp and the readme directions are a little different but once you do it you can come up with your own way of doing things.very useful scripts and simple method to set up after you do it the first time or so.
