This really simple skybox is perfect for any dungeon bunker. or basement. the skybox features ultra low prim construction with detailed textures and full materials. The skybox can be connected to the Tredpro Bunker Skybox (sold seperately)
- Simple Low prim skybox
- 2 choices of textures
Great, low prim model. Difficult to modify, textures too low-res.
I never, ever, thought I'd complain about an item in SL having too few textures. SL's biggest performance issue today is that too many objects use an excessive amount of high-res textures. So points to the creator for not contributing to that problem. However, I want to make some suggestions to them.
Right now the skybox is basically 5 faces. The hallway, the main room, the doors, the ceiling lights, and the external box. So we have four 1024x1024 diffuse textures.
The doors and ceiling lights are fine. No notes.
For the room itself, I'd have split it into more faces. 1 for the walls, 1 for the door frames/window/sewer bars, 1 for the floors, 1 for the stairs/raised floor. Instead of a single baked texture I'd have each of those faces use its own repeating texture. This would allow for higher resolution without the burden of too many additional textures. Sure you'd lose the baked shading, but the additional resolution would be more than worth that trade off. And, yes, this means more textures but even if you use 1024x1024 for each face, this skybox would still be using far fewer textures than almost anything else in SL with this level of detail. Since the textures would be repeating you could probably get away with 512x512 textures instead.
I'd have also added a second door to the hallway to allow for expansions. Or maybe made the hallway a second object so it could be removed/replaced entirely. I'd definitely have made the exterior box its own object so it could be resized/removed.
User's paradise/Builder's headache
Alright so right off the bat, I absolutely love this build. From the nice little touch involving the lightswitch for the hallway, to just how smooth and fundamentally exceptional the textures and modeling is. There is a great potential for this build to be featured everywhere with need or want for it. But as I said at the title, a builder's headache. I can select the box texture itself and thankfully hide it and remove the doors to maybe attach it to or make accessible to a current build, my main issue lies in customizing or even minor edits.
Would love to see maybe a future release broken up into parts, like main hall a (cement + sewer), hallway 1a (brick + doorway), hallway 1b (brick + light fixture). And maybe even a texture map to give a crack at maybe adding stains or cracks or bullet holes.
Aside from my inner builder screaming in my ear, I absolutely do love this and am very happy with my purchase. Thank you ac14 Hutson.

This holding cell sewer skybox is absolutely amazing, the quality is great and its literally only 7 Land Impact. It's sheer magic, and works well for RP dungeons and prison sells<3
