Inspired by the Aerohod A8, this is a small versatile hovercraft intended for a variety of roles such as tourism, haulage, ferry, leisure and generally being useful to people living around tundra, snow, ice or rivers.
It's been sensibly built to allow you to remove parts that you don't need or want so that you can modify it for whatever purpose you have in mind.
Like my other vehicles, it is minimally scripted and everything is there to ensure you get a reliable vehicle with a sense of the real thing. It is designed to be extremely modifiable and resilient to modding. The majority of the code can be modified too, since I believe in giving you as much flexibility for modding as I can.
So you won't find lots of features that aren't directly related to being a skipper. I don't add things that I personally would never/rarely use.
What you will find is a vehicle built to RL scale, with everything needed to simply go on a journey in something that looks and feels like a hovercraft.
Briefly, the main features are:-
a) 100% home made for SL, with proper LOD proofing so that even at LOD Factor 1 it will still look like a boat.
b) It will drift and slide, and you'll spend a lot of time pointing in a direction which is different to the direction you're moving.
c) about 42 knot top speed
d) an optional fuel system
e) can be guested to others
f) various moving/animated parts
g) navigation, headlights and spotlights work
h) AVsitter ready versions are included, with a basic AVsitter installation
i) now supports the GFS fuel system
Modder friendly! AO, UV and PSD files available, and a sensible build and associated applier script can be used to paint it.
It's RL scaled, so if you're big you might end up with elbows sticking out of the side or your head getting a bit windswept - but it's resizable, so you can make it as big or as small as you need with minimum fuss. Simply use the editor to scale it up or down :)
There are 2 versions included in the box, one with 2 seats and one with 6 seats. You can add/remove seats if you need to, it shouldn't complain.
The 2 seater is 38 land impact while the 4 seater is 43 land impact.
See the in world shop for a demo!
And as with all my products, you can use any caspervend redelivery terminal to get things redelivered :)
And I have to thank Tadao Lytton for the awesome video of the halob :3
1.2.0 saw the addition of support for GFS and an improved AVsitter installation for modders

- a solid vehicle for travelling the grid
- can be guested to others
- *very* modifiable, including most of the code
The must-have water craft
It delivers all that's promised, and then some. very good documentation, take to the water and have real fun
Great fun!
I don't normally write reviews, but on this occasion felt compelled to after only one drive.
Ever since the HoverTube stopped being sold, SL has needed a good inexpensive hovercraft, and this is it. If you are used to sailing boats with instant steering responses, you are going to have to learn a whole new technique - you will be spending a lot of time going sideways, and that's just the way a hovercraft should steer. Vaguely.
Yetius (plus the rest of the team) have spent a lot of time creating the Halob 8, and it shows. There are various versions in the box, plus it is also mod so you can change it any way you choose; I know someone who will pack hers full of moonshine :D
Buy it, enjoy it, and you will never regret it.
Entirely too much fun.
For the first time in several years I ran a vessel out of fuel and had to be rescued. This thing is far too much fun. Buy it. Live life sideways.
Can't go wrong with Rubber Bunny
Boats are my honest passion, and this creator is one of the very few vehicle makers I can trust to buy un-demoed. Although I still strongly recommend /you/ should visit the in-world store and demo. Don't forget (as always) to remove as many scripts and prims as possible!
This hovercraft is a winner in my eyes. Not just for being mod, but for handling so accurately. If you've ever driven on snow or mud you know what to expect. It's fun, a heap of fun in fact, to shoot over the ocean and drift turn.
And for a challenge a trip through the narrow residential channels of the Blake Sea islands is an amazing way to spend a day :D
Best of its kind.
Mesh 10/10
Textures 10/10
Scripts 9/10
Including a mod kit: Bonus Points!
It holds a straight line better than any car in SL, when at lower RPMs. Smooth directional changes once you get used to the realistic lag time between increasing throttle and increased rudder effectiveness. Very nicely done.
Yet another superb vehicle from Yetius
I was lucky enough to try out an early version of this hovercraft before it was released, and within 5 minutes I knew I'd be adding it to my collection.
Unsurprisingly , the finished version displays all the hallmarks that Yetius has become known for: well crafted original mesh, completely modifiable (including some scripts and full perm textures/PSD files), excellent driving physics and effects, nice usable features and excellent attention to detail.
Driving this thing is just a blast, it's just so much fun.. but as usual, it's often in the details where Yetius goes the extra mile. The spotlights for example, are superb, either following your head movement when in mouselook, or adjustable by clicking on a little radar-like grid mounted in the cabin. The compass has a slide/drift arrow built into it, giving you a nice indication of the actual direction the hovercraft is moving, regardless of which direction it's pointed in - something you'll appreciate when you start drifting this thing out on the open seas.
There's plenty of less-obvious animated parts too, like the opening storage areas under the seats, the moving throttle lever, and the working engine fan-belts. For under 1000L this thing is an absolute bargain.
Showing the excellent after-sales service that many other builders lack, Yetius has already released various updates, including tweaks to the driving characteristics and mesh, as well as packing even more into the Halob with the inclusion of a winch, working entrance ladders, jerry cans, luggage racks etc, and all whilst still keeping the vehicle under 50 LI.
This really is one of those must have vehicles in SL, so go and grab one today!
