A 1-prim decorative panel with the famous memorial statue of the Italian Giordano Bruno.
He was a Dominican friar, philosopher, mathematician and astronomer. He was executed for heresy in 1600.
According to one source, Bruno was condemned for his theological errors, among which were the following: that Christ was not God but merely an unusually skillful magician, that the Holy Ghost is the soul of the world, that the Devil will be saved, etc.
The Inquisition was not amused, and Bruno was burned at the stake in the Campo de' Fiori in Rome.
