Basic drinks vending machine, themed to fit Science Fiction, and Modern Settings
It has normal maps and specular maps, Advanced Lighting Model is required to see these effects
Basic Functionality:
Walk up close to the vending machine to interact with it!
Click a button on the vending machine, to recieve a can of the labelled drink!
Click Yes on the prompt to accept the drink!
The can of drink uses temporary attachment! It does not appear in your inventory, it disappears for good when detatched!
It also detatches by itself after a while, aka you drank all the soda!
Advanced (owner only) Functionality:
The vending machine comes with modify permissions, so you can change the picture on the main face, using SL's edit tools.
You can also replace the button texture with SL's editor tools, be sure to use a texture designed with the special template however, because all buttons are on a single texture!
Template Link included in manual notecard
This template includes alpha channel as well, which in this case is not used for regular transparency in SL, however it is used for Emissive Mask alpha mode!
(Alpha Mode how-to link: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Material_Data#Alpha_Mode )
The parts on the texture where the drink's logo is display glow and light up, this is achieved with the Emissive Mask feature!
Use the template to put on your images for the appropriate buttons, then set up the alpha channel with white boxes where you put an image, and black where you didnt, so the logo lights up, the blank ones dont.
Alternatively, you can make a texture without an alpha channel, set the Alpha Mode to none on the buttons' face, tick in full bright, and put on your texture!
This provides an easier alternative, while it may not look as precise and high quality.
Once you applied your button texture, you can replace the images shown on the soda cans dispenced by each button!
Do this by clicking and holding down for about 2 seconds on a button, and it will show a dialog where you can enter your texture uuid for that slot's can texture!
The can textures and vending machine front logos, do not require a template, as they are just regular full size images!
Enjoy!
