Single-Day Gift Script

This script distributes inventory items to visitors on a single specified day, making it perfect for advent calendars, event giveaways, or timed promotions.

➡️ Quick Setup

Place one or more transferable items in the object (the script will automatically exclude non-transferable items)

Enter the event date in the object description using one of these formats:
- mm/dd/yyyy (e.g., 12/24/2025)
- dd.mm.yyyy (e.g., 24.12.2024)
- yyyy-mm-dd (e.g., 2024-12-24)

The script automatically detects and validates the configuration

Automatic Configuration Detection
- Validates date format and checks for transferable inventory every 10 seconds
- Displays configuration errors as red floating text
- Confirms successful setup with green floating text showing event start/stop times

Smart Time Handling
- All times are in SLT (Pacific Time) with automatic DST adjustment
- Event runs from 00:00:01 to 23:59:59 SLT on the specified date
- Accurately handles US Daylight Saving Time rules (post-2007)

Visitor Communication
- Before event: Floating text announces availability date; touch shows "This gift will become available on [date]"
- During event: Floating text disappears; touch delivers items in a folder named after the object
- After event: Red floating text indicates the event has ended; touch confirms "This gift was only available on [date]"

Gift Distribution Tracking
- Counts all gifts handed out during the event
- Persists count using linkset data (survives script resets during the event)
- Owner can touch the object after the event to see total distribution count
- Count resets when inventory, owner, or region changes

Group Restrictions (Chose the proper script)
- NO-GROUP version: Works for every toucher
- GROUP version: Requires the touchers to have the same group active as the object. Non-members receive instructions to activate the required group.

➡️ Error Handling

The script validates configuration and displays helpful error messages:
- "No valid date set" - Check object description format
- "Gift item missing" - Add at least one transferable item to inventory
- "Event date is over already" - Date is in the past (script still functions for reporting)
