When the board is rezzed, it rezzes the pieces automatically. The board is still just in standby mode at this point.
In order to play the chess, you must click on the small podium on either side of the board, where it says 'Player 1, Player 2' etc, and selecting 'Start Game'. The first person to click will be assigned to the white pieces; the second person to click will be assigned to the black pieces. You can play solo by touching the Player 1 podium, then touching the Player 2 podium and selecting 'Play solo'.
The game works just as chess does. It will allow most moves however it will not allow you to move your King into the way of danger, it will return invalid move. When you get a pawn to the other side, you will be presented with a menu from which you can choose what you would like to promote your pawn too, and it will do this after you select.
The board chat is toggled on by default, meaning when you make a move it will list it in local chat. It will also list whether your King is in check or whether he is checkmated. The game will automatically cease when checkmate has been achieved. Chat can be toggled 'off' by touching the menu however this can only be done by the board owner. At any time by selecting the menu you can offer a draw.
Once a game is complete or you would like to wipe the board, you can do this in the menu by selecting 'Reset board'. This will also free up both Player podiums and allow others to play.
