Yerba mate is a species of the holly family with the botanical name Ilex paraguariensis.
It is well known as the source of the beverage called mate, traditionally consumed in central and southern South America, particularly Argentina, Bolivia, Southern and Center-Western Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay and Southern Chile. It is curiously also very popular in Syria where it is imported from Argentina.
This set is a traditional argentinian Mate set. You gather around with your friends, prepare your mate in a "bombilla", traditionally a hollow gourd, and pass it around.
