It's now back! After being taken offline following the 2008 Havoc 4 physics release. Astro is a weapon which pushes an avatar that you select. A typical successful hit will take them about 4,000 meters, though, this altitude may vary. The system will continue to push the target for about 60 seconds and then cease.

Here's how it works:

The HUD will be boxed. Extract the HUD and these instructions from the boxed package into your inventory using Edit. Select the HUD object in your inventory and choose "Wear." It will attatch to your Center 2 HUD slot by default, though it will be positioned to your upper-left screen.

HUD PARTS:

MINIMIZE BUTTON:
When clicked, this will slide the HUD up and off-screen, leaving a tab to click on which will bring the HUD back down. The top edge of the HUD must be aligned with the top edge of your viewing window for this to function.

NEARBY AVATARS LIST:
This list is the result of a 96-meter sensor scan which displays the names of the 16 nearest avatars. The immediate list will display the 4 nearest avatars. Click on an avatar's name to select them for Astro. Their name will highlight.

REFRESH BUTTON:
This is the "RFSH LIST" button. It scans the area again and updates the list.

SCROLL ARROWS:
These are the arrows next to the list. Use them to cycle through the full list of 16 nearest avatars. It displays the previous 4 names and the next 4 names. The display will roll if you go before 1 or after 16.

ORBIT BUTTON:
This is the button with the atomic/orbital symbol. Once a target is selected(Click on a name to select them as a target. Their name will highlight in the list), you can then choose to activate Astro on them by clicking this button.

NOTES AND SYSTEM LIMITATIONS:

Astro v3.0 is a redesigned form of Astro v1.0 and v2.0 which both used properties of Havoc 1 physics and LSL functions for related abilities that were made non-functional with the Havoc 4 physics release in 2008. Astro v2.0 was made no longer available in stores shortly afterwards. Astro v3.0 replaces the original effect with a weaker, though still effective system for quickly launching an avatar upwards.

Once used, the orbit weapon will not be available again for push until it has finished it's push cycle on the avatar it was last activated for. This lasts for about 20 seconds.

Astro is a push orbiter, so it uses push. As well as a series of objects to accomplish this. As a result, there are some requirements for the orbit to function:
You Must Be:
*Within 96 meters of the target
*Able to run scripts on the parcel you're on
*Able to create objects on the parcel you're on
Your target must be:
*On a script-enabled parcel
*On a push-enabled parcel
*On a parcel that allows object entry

Astro does not work on avatars in other sims, sitting avatars, or avatars in motion.

The system's objects are temporary, so they don't compete with prim usage as much and typically self-clean. Astro will scale the amount of objects that it uses based on the temp-rez capacity of the parcel you're standing on when you use it. A smaller parcel results in a lower orbit. For example, from an 8,192 sqm parcel, the target will probably be orbited the full 4,000 meters, while from a 16 sqm parcel, the target will only be orbited around 500 meters. So any size parcel will give you a decent orbit, 500 meters being the lowest.

Sometimes a HUD can be inadvertently repositioned out of your viewing area, or was originally aligned at a different display resolution. If a HUD is not within your viewing when attatched, you'll need to Edit it and bring it back into view. To get a HUD Edit interface, right-click a HUD object and select "Edit" from the pie menu. This will highlight the HUD. Now, hold down alt and left-click the HUD, holding down, and pull the mouse towards you. This will zoom out and show you other HUD objects that may be off-screen. You can then click them and reposition them back within your field of view. Then, zoom back in with alt-click-drag again. If you don't have another HUD object to click on to get you started, create a basic prim block and attatch it to HUD and use that.

Use of Astro on other avatars without consent can constitute a Second Life Terms of Service violation.
