The Aztec Pyramid Temple is loosely based on Chichén Itzá in Mexico but modified with SL requirements in mind. In order to keep its foot print as small as possible the side and rear steps have suffered from age and have started to collapse, wind blown soil has started to collect and grass has grown in nooks and crannies.
You first arrive at the foot of the pyramid, a long climb up the main staircase takes you to an imposing but impressive chamber, guarded by the mythological turquoise encrusted serpent. Passing through the entrance arch you find yourself looking at a large circular stone deeply carved with symbols. You puzzle over its significance, is it a stage, or possibly a sacrificial altar stone, perhaps it is the lid of a sarcophagus. You touch it and to your surprise it gracefully rolls away revealing dark stairs leading into the heart of the pyramid.
You take out a torch and wiping away cobwebs you enter the gloom. The stairs take you down into the depths of the crypt, as you turn a corner a large chamber opens before you, the walls are intricately painted with ritualistic scenes, it will takes days of careful examination to determine what they mean.
You move to the centre of the chamber here you find the same carving on the floor as was on the entry portal, you shine your torch to take a closer look. It indeed looks like it could be another opening, you step back and tap it with your heal, it makes a hollow sound, you kick it harder and suddenly it rolls back, flames erupt in your face and startled you step back, the heat intense, you see molten lava bubbling away just feet below the opening. The door rolls back shutting out the flames and the heat returns to a more tolerable level.
You see an altar in an alcove and realise that the two elements are probably connected. You close your eyes and imagine some poor virgin lying on the stone, in an ecstatic stupor from the drugged drink she was given, surrounded by priests in hideous masks as they chant, preparing the child to be delivered to the earth god.
Designed with role play in mind the pyramid is made entirely in mesh, the textures are taken from pictures of the original and are detailed and realistic. All surfaces are hard and both rolling doors have various levels of security. Tapping secret parts of the building will give a menu to the owner allowing them to change access from anyone, to group or just named people, the door can also be locked open for easy access.
Supplied with the building are two types of lamp, a skull candle and a bronze free standing oil lamp, both are copy mod and you can rez as many as you want. Also supplied is a copy mod altar this can be used as supplied or pulled into a squarer stage, the possibilities are endless.
The entire building is also copy/mod giving you the flexibility to integrate it into your own settings, I wouldn't change the stone textures but the grass can be changed so it blends in to your sim ground texture and the four panels in the crypt are easy to change.
Instructions for finding the door permission changer are on a notecard in the folder. The foot print of the building is 32 x 35 m and it stands 17m high.
