In 1553 Henry the Eighth passed the Act of Dissolution of the Monasteries and many ecclesiastical communities were broken up and dispersed, the remaining buildings, often made of stone, were then placed under the care of the local nobility who appointed masons and workmen to strip the lead from the roof and remove all valuable items for sale. Often all that was left was a gutted pile of stone, bereft of windows, floors and roof and quite naturally the local gentry saw an opportunity to enhance their own dwellings by carting the stone away to be used in the construction of new Manor Houses and Baronial Mansions.
Elmswell Manor is an example of a mid Tudor Cross Hall Mansion, heavily decorated with rich York stone and ‘robbed’ pillars from the local monastery.
You enter through double oak doors into the main hall, large fireplaces at either end and a commanding stone staircase give this a welcoming and historic ambience and the fully animated heavy curtains, log fires and candle lighting allow for interaction to enhance role play. Upstairs the space is divided into one large double and a single chamber accessible from a landing. All doors are scripted and lockable with a variety of permissions available to suit most needs.
On the ground floor there is a back door leading to a private walled ‘knot garden’, a fountain provides decorative focus and the box hedges frame it in a typically Tudor way.
This is a carefully observed and functional historic building, extensive use of sculpties ensure a low prim count and all prims are combined into one indestructible linkset with no need for rezzer scripts. It can be repeatedly taken in and out of inventory without fear of damage.
The Mansion is sold no copy, no mod, transfer but items in the box prevent the whole box being transferred, if you wish to give as a gift to a friend then use the buy as gift option, you can select this option once you reach the checkout.
The Mansion has a footprint of 30 x 28 metres.
Full instructions are included in the box for the lockable doors and tintable drapes, you will need to have access to a plot with scripts enabled or the doors will remain firmly shut.
