You are looking at the Bandit 25R, a small contemporary cruiser/racer, popularly known as a "weekender"

This is the R (Racing) version of the Bandit 25, tailor-made for competitive sailing, and very well suited for tight, action packed courses. The 25 is an agile and lively boat that puts the fun back into second life sailing.

key features

-Choice of headsails, (Code Zero, Jib, Asymmetrical Spinnaker)

-BWind 2.5 and WWC environment settings, (windsetters included)

-Fast loading low landimpact highly detailed 100% mesh with custom LOD and physics models,

-BOSS Dynamic Sailing System, realistic boat behavior and great details like hoisting sails, working sheets, clamps, halyards etc.

-All working instruments, Speed, AWA, Depth, Sail Trim, Telltales, Wind Vane, real luffing on all sails,

-Autopilot, great for starting sailors, or those moments you need your attention elsewhere, like chatting or reading the map. Autopilot trims the sails, and automatically switches between the gennaker and the jib as needed.

Textures come included, and the mesh parts on the boat are modify.

Note:

All instruments and visual feedback are on the boat itself in the place you would expect it to be on a real boat. There is no floating text, and the included screen attached hud is meant as a trimming aid for you and your crew.

Strictly a two person boat!

Scripts constantly break

Super fun if you fix it
full star full star full star empty star empty star Publicado May 21, 2023 por Monika Skydancer

This was the first boat I got in SL & still one of my faves. She's easy to sail, which is great for beginners, but also pretty fun & fast. The only trouble is, like a lot of Bandit/TMS boats the scripting is super unreliable, so a lot of the time when you cross a sim border the cam & animation scripts break. When that happens she basically becomes unusable, cause it's kinda hard to sail when the camera won't stay behind the boat. If you buy this boat head on over to Uggo's Labs & get his fix. If you ain't comfortable modifying the workings of a boat, buy a Sjogin instead cause it's never gonna break.

I feel ripped off

I feel ripped off. I was a few years away from Si, I lost my account. I believe another and the first thing I did was buy a Bandit, to be able to navigate, that I missed it. A big disappointment. When crossing a sim, Camera script fails. I have been told in the group that it is a bug. I've stopped using the boat. I want my money back. It is a very expensive boat, for it to fail. The avatar is dislodged in the pose, the boat stops, which makes it very difficult to navigate with it. I insist, I want my money back.

Great All-Around Boat

I own a bunch of boats and for exploring, GTFO, or just getting somewhere quick - this one is my goto - it's fast, easy to get around tight spaces, and fun. Got it as my first sailing boat, still use it a lot of the time.

Great boat—for what it is
full star full star full star full star empty star Publicado February 18, 2019 por Female Winslet

This little boat is really terrific for what it is. But what it is a little bit limiting.

This is a small racer. For a beginning racer it’s an ideal boat to learn on. It’s simple. You don’t have to worry about independently trimming different sails. No need to worry about hiking from side to side. You can focus on learning to sail well. You get to tinker with different headsails (spinnaker, gennaker, working jib) to see how they work out. The boat isn’t super speedy, but it is fast enough.

At the same time, there are lots of people late in their sailing careers who find this boat still rewarding. So it’s a boat that you can enjoy for some time after your beginner period too.

That’s what this boat is.

At the same time, other things are missing compared to other Bandit boats. All the extra animations and such are missing here. You can’t use the cabin. There’s no moving around the boat. As one reviewer said, this boat is not a weekender. It’s just made to look like one. I gather that there was once a non-racing variation, the Bandit 25B. Maybe that version had all those features.

As it is, I think the boat is over priced for what it is. It should be in the range of 1500-2000, in my opinion. Or perhaps take the approach taken by The Mesh Shop on boats like the Flying Shadow where the racing and the non-racing version come together in the box.

All in all, I’m glad I bought this boat. It definitely allows me to participate in the weekly Bandit 25 races, which are among a small number that occur when real life lets me participate. And the race is fun. But it’s not a boat that I take out to go cruising around.
