On October 14, 1947, the Bell X-1 became the first airplane to fly faster than the speed of sound. Piloted by U.S. Air Force Capt. Charles E. "Chuck" Yeager, the X-1 reached a speed of 1,127 kilometers (700 miles) per hour, Mach 1.06, at an altitude of 13,000 meters (43,000 feet).

Thanks for purchasing the X-1! I put a large amount of time and effort into it, and you'll experience the resulting quality the moment you begin flying.

Notes:
This aircraft uses the same advanced physics modification engine you will find in some other aircraft built by Apotheus Silverman. That means while using the advanced flight model, its handling at low speed changes to mimic the real thing; you can stall and even lose control if you're not careful!

This aircraft can be modified! When you take it into your inventory, it may say (no modify). This is because you do not have modify rights to the scripts. Everything else is fair play! Modify, texture, and make your own copies to your heart's delight. Enjoy. :-)

  • Retractable landing gear
  • Optional info display
  • Easy flight mode: A slower, very smooth, predictable, easy-to-fly physics model
  • Medium mode: A comfy mix between easy and advanced
  • Advanced mode: The most realistic winged aircraft physics model available in SL
