Home Automation - Controller Pack

"Home Automation" is a technology that allows you to easily control your home items in an automatic way. With this pack you some major pieces of the system: the controller, a scripting device, and a state trigger. The controller scans the surrounding for Home Automation objects and builds a menu that allows you to control the Home Automation devices. With the scripting device you can script multiple events (like switch lights low, turn music on, and put on the fireplace) easily, and start all events with a single click.. The trigger device detects state changes and can also send multiple commands to other devices.

Please see the other packs for more compatible items, especially the lamp or home packs for devices.

What is Home Automation

Home automation is a real-life technology that lets you control items in your home automatically. Examples are window blinds that open or close automatically at a defined time of day, or lights that switch on or off depending on the outside light. Another example is a control, that automatically lowers the blinds, dims the lights and switches on some soft music when you get into the mood.

This controller pack contains the main Home Automation (HA) controller. The controller is a device you can click, that shows the user a menu with all the rooms. When you click on the room, a menu appears with the circuits in the room. When you select the circuit, a menu appears that shows the possible states for the devices that you can trigger.
The scripting device is a device itself - each script is a "state" and can be triggered. A script then can switch other devices, send messages in chat, or introduce specific delays between switching devices. The script can also change options on devices.
The Trigger monitors state changes in other devices, and when it registers them, can switch one or more other devices. It can also change device options, but it can not chat or delay commands.

Please look at the other packs or the demo in my store. The Home Automation technology used in these items is a sophisticated script library, taking care of all the subtleties for you.

What's in the pack

In this pack you find

- controller - the main controller
- scripter - a multi device that sends commands to other devices from a script
- trigger - detects state changes and sends commands to other devices
- a (non-scripted) switch cabinet as an example where to put the controller
- a toggle switch that uses the controller to switch off all(!) devices

How do I use the Controller pack?

The items are very easy to use. For the controller and the toggle switch, simply drag the items from the repository, place them where you want them to be and you're set!

For the scripter and trigger devices, rename them appropriately (see wildcard addressing in the second info part), then drag them where you want them. For the scripter, edit the "CONFIGURATION" notecard to modify and create your scripts. For the trigger, edit the "TRIGGERS" notecard to define your triggers and actions.

The Home Controller and the "all off" toggle switch must use the same name settings ("<room> <circuit> <...>") to find each other.

How do I modify the items?

Items are modified easily, as they are all allowed to be modified. Thus you can simply adjust the size, colors, textures and so on. All items are modifyable (except the home automation scripts).

The controller and the "all off" switch need to be named in a similar way like "<room> <circuit> <....>" with "<room>" and "<circuit>" matching. Please see the devices pack info (lamp or home devices) for a more detailled description.
Also the trigger device only detects state changes of devices that match its own name (currently "* *" which means all, but can be restricted for anti-lag purposes)

Advanced Use

There are advanced uses of the items in this pack:

- you can use the configuration file to actually implement access control - i.e. restrict the use of the switches to
- yourself as the owner,
- people in the same group as the switch or
- a small list of people specified in the configuration file itself.
- restrict rooms and circuits to owner, group, or a list of people
