"Home Automation" is a technology that allows you to easily control your home items in an automatic way. With this pack you get a number of devices you can use in your SL home. This includes doors, window blinds, but also a radio and a fireplace.

What is Home Automation
Home automation is a real-life technology that lets you control items in your home automatically. Examples are window blinds that open or close automatically at a defined time of day, or lights that switch on or off depending on the outside light. Another example is a control, that automatically lowers the blinds, dims the lights and switches on some soft music when you get into the mood.
The Home Devices pack brings this technology to SL. It is a starter pack to give you an impression of the possibilities. Please look at the other packs or the demo in my store. The Home Automation technology used in these items is a sophisticated script library, taking care of all the subtleties for you.
In general (with the exception of special purpose items) there are two types of items:
- devices - things that "do" stuff, like lights, doors, windows etc
- switches - items that "control" stuff, i.e. make devices "do" things, like switching on, opening etc.
The following types of devices are in this pack:
- Toggle switches - when you click on it, this switch triggers a "toggle device" or toggles an on/off device from on to off, and from off to on
or it triggers - as used here - the "next" state of a multi device.
- The included toggle switch simply triggers toggle devices, or lets on/off devices change from on to off and vice versa
- Multi Device - a device that can have multiple (in general more than 2) states, or states with other names than "On" or "Off".
- Multi switches - a special switch to work with multi devices, but also with on/off as well as toggle devices. It is different
compared to on/off or toggle switches in that it allows to handle device options as well. When you click on it, it shows a
menu with the possible actions.
- HA Locator - this device allows you to locate and reset home automation items
- HA Controller - this is a switch that automatically finds all home automation items and presents their options in the menu
First you select the room, then the device, then the controller presents all device states and options.
What's in the pack
This Home Devices pack contains a number of home devices you can use in your builds, plus the main Home Automation controller. The controller is a device you can click, that shows the user a menu with all the rooms. When you click on the room, a menu appears with the circuits in the room. When you select the circuit, a menu appears that shows the possible states for the devices that you can trigger.

- Home Frontdoor - a turning door that opens on contact, but also can be locked
In the door script you can edit the angle the door opens, and also adjust the sounds.
Note that when the door is linked to another root prim, only the single prim door moves.
If the door is the root prim itself, the whole object moves.
