Builders'MATE is a set of scripts, both for Maya and LSL, to more quickly reconstruct your composite builds. If you want the freedom of controlling each individual part of your builds' LoD upon upload, you will end up re-building it in the viewer. And the realignment process can be quite time consuming. Not any longer. With Builders'Mate, you will be able to save off a lsl script file with the reconstruction definition of your build. Just put that script in a cube inworld, along with all the involved objects, making sure the names match. Done that? Click the box and your build will be reconstructed automatically, exactly as it was inside of Maya. And if you find some gaps or bad alignments... double check your scene in Maya: chances are that the bad alignment is most likely there too! Only limit is it can export up to 72 objects per script. But once you have prepared the box with all the needed objects, it's just a matter of loading a new script for the next 72 objects from your scene. You'll love it!
Created and tested on Maya 2017.
Builders'MATE is available as installer for Windows (Vista/7/8/10) OS only.
- Ready to use scripts
- Scene scripts saved to file for versioning
A perfect inworld alignment tool for Maya users.
I had a build where it was necessary to import each object separately due to some complex curvature and LI efficiency, but was then faced with the tedious task of having to align each object inworld perfectly. Looking for an answer to do this accurately and speedily I went to the Second Life Mesh forum where Optimo pointed me to this, his product.
It is the ideal answer and tool for what I wanted to achieve. The showcase video lays out how easy the tool is to operate both in Maya and inworld. The alignment is so perfect that I could not have done better if I was able to enter inworld and snap the vertices together. The replication from Maya to inworld is indeed flawless and it has, and will save me, many hours in the future of tedious inworld alignments with the added benefit of having more control over LODs and physics models when importing objects as single objects rather than linksets.
I would thoroughly recommend this to any Maya/SL creator as a more than useful utility; a worthy 5 stars.
*NOTE* There is a known, but rare bug in the download where certain files do not download in the zip to some PCs. However within minutes of me sending Optimo a notecard detailing the problem he supplied the fix and a walkthrough and asking me to feedback any further problems, the install then worked perfectly. So if you are one of those rare people rest assured the customer service is speedy and more than helpful.
