Clyde Puffer steam freighter was a common sight on the canals and coastal waterways, and in a way, still is. The one reproduced by Garda Crafts is total mesh, faithfully recreated and not uploaded from the Web.
The script engine is the already known and appreciated from the other crafts of the brand, and the handling is very realistic, top heavy, slow, cumbersome, but easy to master and a breeze in sim crossing. There is space for a pilot and three crew, scattered around the deck, the pilothouse and the main cabin, provided with bunk, table, even a working light.
The sounds are original from a steam engine at all speeds.
Mayday broadcast to SLCG system added!!
The ship is customizable, there are two full perms textures provided, hull and funnel area, plus of course the flag.
Due to high demand for Get The Freight Out (GTFO) game, a new version has been made, 2.3b adapted to dock handling: now on Stop command, boat is immediately non-physical again.
IF YOU HAVE THE OLD VERSION 2.2, and wish to play GTFO, contact me in world and I will send you the new one for free.

Furthermore, the api script which is necessary for the boat to be recongized by GTFO system, requires a basic prim is added to the boat *before* the api script is added from the GTFO kit.
For the Clyde Puffer freighter, follows these steps (thanks to Dragon Wobbit):

1) Drop a prim on the ground and called it *exactly* by this name - GTFO!CLYDEP
2) Now take this prim back and drop it into the boat contents followed by the api script; a message will appear in chat that the freighter is now recognized by GTFO
3) Take the boat back into inventory, and then rez it again. The boat should work normally.
4) Check the GTFO hud that the boat is recognized and carry on with the game.

I simply adore the Puffer. I have had the chance to travel on the real thing, and this one is so similar to that one! It is true, the engine is noiser in SL, but what the heck, we can always turn the volume down!
Good little ship, nicely detailed, and well scripted.

Great little ship

I bought this to run GTFO! loads. And it is good for that, nimble, and nice to 'drive'.
There are a couple of things I'd like, but they don't detract much. Horn or whistle, something in the hold when the doors are open, maybe. And something I've seen on other ships, a side-strafe for docking.

now we can serve the channels east of Blake sea. this ship has a smooth steering, smooth machine telegraph. its just perfect for coasts and channels. and we like that we can set it to group skipper! so everyone can do the work and me as owner can stay home and drink my coffee at the dock.
Special thanks to Pier, helping to fix my bad painting!

Very good ship

I'm very happy about this product, and use it for merchant navy roleplay. Among the things I like, there are the precise dimensions of this ship, which allow me to go through all narrow waterways in SL, not just the few wide ones. This way I can reach many more destinations. About possible future additions, I generally agree with previous reviews, and I would add a horn. But as I say, the ship is already very enjoyable. I hope to see more good merchant ships like this in SL, of various relevant types: dry cargo, tankers, etc.

SAVE THE PUFFER!!!! XD Its a wonderfull cute and rustic boaty! But there are two littel mistakes i found.
First, the Camera does crazy things, when a Passender changed the Poses.
Second : The Machine Sound is too loud, the Original puffs qieter. x3

Fazit : I love it and i use it as a eccentricalli Yacht. xD

Hard to find a quality work boat!

I was a bit skeptical as there were no reviews on this boat. But with the complete lack of builders/scripter’s in the working class vessels I figured I would gamble and boy has this gamble paid off. What I got was a well scripted, well built boat to run. The cabin of the ship offers many of the things you would expect to see on a ship of this type. I did find some of the interior components to not match in build quality of the external shell of the vessel but Im not living in it.. Im putting it to work hauling coal for Kowalski Logistics in Cardona sim (Oniakaloha or SLOA) and it is mod. Don’t get me wrong.. the cabin is not junk, just older SL object generation quality. If it bothers you that much, you can freely change it up. The hull, Deck and external textures are great and come with the maps to change the hull name/paint to your choice or change the details to your liking with very little effort. I have this tied up to my shipyard and as of the moment I’m typing this, I have over 76 sim crossings (tracked by an ancient Navmaster hud) on the original rez with no crash or fending off the sharks. I took a few sim corners to tempt fate and she bucked a bit but came through the other end intact with no leaks.
I would wish you could idle/drift it as you walk the deck but as soon as you stand, it turns off engine scripts, sounds, and the smoke. It is a good solid boat I recommend this boat for its solid scripting and appearance with the ability to make it your own.
