Damballah Wedo, Damballah
Archetypal wise spirit; the patriarchal serpent divinity, associated with rain, peace, wisdom, innocence, wealth, fertility and purity. He cannot speak; his colors are white; he favors white cornmeal and eggs. He and his companion and wife, Ayida Wedo are the Loas of Creation. He is the Serpent and she is the Rainbow. He rests in the branches of the Gran Bwa, the Great Tree. Cognate with Obatala and with St. Patrick of Ireland.
