Great for the scifi engineer
I got this ages back when it first came out and have been using parts since for various different looks for my engineer avatars.
I have not tried 'wielding' them but for props and avatar accessories, very happy!
Close to perfect
I created an engineer character for an SCI Fi RP sim "Red Rock" and I was looking for tools to make my character looked like they are working.
The main thing on my list was a welder, and this seems to be the only SCI Fi looking welder I could find that did not require me to constantly be in mouse look mode and holding down M1.
Exactly what I was after... so, what's the problem? Well, the main issue is that the tool itself is far too loud and cannot have its volume adjusted.
So unfortunately I can't go idle with it.
It would be a good quality of life improvement if we could adjust the volume somehow.
The visual effects are also quite lacking I think, it would be nice if there were more sparks and if it admitted a strong flickering light.
The lamp is an OK attachment, though it would be delightful if it could be toggled.
The crowbar is nice.
However, the hammer and wrench are nothing more than props with no animations.
Thankfully, with this pack being COPY/MOD I can easily mod it for what I want.
My last little nitpick is that although all the other tools have a "Slung" position, only the crowbar takes advantage of that.
And instead of a gesture, it would be nice if the tools themselves instead use a function where you click on the holstered tool to draw or holster them.
All in all, these are good futuristic tools for an engineer, that are COPY/MOD which must not go unappreciated, as this allows the possibility for one to add any changes like the ones I mentioned previously, without fear of permanently messing up something. (down with MOD/TRANS)
The only major problem for someone in my position is that the welder tool is far too loud for me to use on the sim, so unless this gets updated with the ability to set the volume of the welder, I'm afraid I'm going to have to keep looking for a welder tool.
If you're here only for the welder tool, like I was, keep this in mind.
