This is the most advanced helicopter flight engine you can find in SL, combining realism and fun.
Scripted to enable both the novice and the expert to handle and enjoy.
If you are looking for a helicopter to have fun in, represent your business or explore SL with it's additionally added water landing floats...
List of Commands
s - start/stop the aircraft
l - toggles lights on or off
p - toggles hold current altitude
m - toggles Mouselook Steering On/Off
rd - open/close right door
ld - open/close left door
bd - open/close back doors
fs - FlySafe, makes the aircraft temporary and phantom (will fly over full parcels and through skyboxes)
copilot - switches flight controls to the copilot
pilot - switches flight controls back to the pilot
guest on - Unlocks the aircraft for everyone.
guest off - locks the aircraft only for the owner
group - toggles groupmode on/off
display - turns on or off the display
eject - ejects all passengers
CAMERA:
c - toggles dynamic camera on/off.
c1 - view from tail
c2 - view from inside the cabin
c3 - view from above
c4 - locks your cam into place.
VICE & TCS Weapons Systems:
vice on/ - activates VICE
tcs on/ - activates TCS
ff - fires flares *
fc - fires chaffs *
p1 - selects AIM-92 Stinger air to air missiles
p2 - selects Hellfire air to ground missiles
b - fires missiles
arrows left and right will also fire missiles
arm - to fire missiles and bombs with your mouse button ONCE.
aa or autoarm - to fire missiles and bombs with your mouse button
Hellfire Missiles have laser guidance, simply fire rockets and click a location on the map or let them seek their own ground target.
AIM-92 Stinger Missiles can be fired with target lock or without and switch to IR seeking.
*(will also auto deploy when a missilelock is detected)
FUEL:
fuel on - switches on the fuel system and the auxiliary tank is visible
fuel off - switches the fuel system off and the auxiliary tank disappears
refuel - will refuel your aircraft. (or tank at any station that sends the refuel command)
Flight Controls:
Page Up increases Collective, above 50% ascending
Page Down decreases Collective, below 50% decends
At 50% collective the helicopter has a automated passive altitude control prohibiting the helicopter to loose altitude during maneuvers.
Using the p in chat command or Hold Altitude or P on the HUD it will actively hold your altitude at the height activated.
Arrows left and right will make the aircraft turn at 0% cyclic or turn and bank when cyclic is above or below 0%.
Arrows shift left and right will make the aircraft strafe left and right at 0% cyclic or turn and bank when cyclic is above or below 0%.
Arrows Forward and Reverse will increase or decrease cyclic, making the aircraft fly faster forward or revers.
Mouselook Steering
Mouselook steering can be activated with the m command or on the HUD pressing Mouse Steer or M.
Deactivated you can fly in mouselook using the normal keyboard controls as described above.
When activated and when in mouselook the vehicle will try to turn such that it points in the same direction as your camera.
Arrows left and right will make the aircraft strafe, arrows forward and reverse will increase or decrease cyclic forward and reverse speed.
At 0% cyclic the aircraft will be steered without banking and above or below steering is coupled with banking.
When out of mouselook the aircraft can be controlled with your keyboard normally as explained above.
FlySafe
Including the new FlySafe mode from Spijkers & Wingtips Aviation.
FlySafe will be disabled when you switch on VICE or lower the landing gears.
When enabled by saying "fs" or clicking the FlySafe button on the HUD the plane and pilot will turn phantom and temporary.
Making the plane temporary enables flying through full parcels. Temporary prims do get counted on the parcels primcount, but do not get limited by the parcels prim limit.
MFD (Multi-Functional Display) and Instrument HUD
A light HUD included with just one MFD that has the map and flight information
The HUD is transferable so you can hand it to your Flight Technician and Co-Pilot, or a friend you have guested the plane to use.
- Modify and Copy
- Guest Mode - Group Mode - Copilot Mode
- Realistic Sounds, Texture Templates
- VICE & CMS/ATMS with targeting system

Everything we expect from Spijkers & Wingtips - fantastic starter military helicopter set
This is a very good Second Life simulation of the UH-72 "Lakota" US-milspec version of the Eurocopter furnished to US Army National Guard and regular US Army units.
For just L$400 more than the combat version of this helicopter, Tig and Wingtips also include the medical evacuation version of the ship, with a removable, externally-usable gurney to safely transport patients, and an external crane and "bucket" for rescue personnel to move onto a hovering medevac craft from below and bring injured people onboard.
I spent a lot of time evaluating various ways to equip my small SL country's military for our primary missions, supporting our Gendarmerie Maritime ("coast guard" in French) with air transport and armed aerial overwatch for law-enforcement and rescue operations.
While we operate the militarized version of Cubey Terra's "Stingray" two-seat amphibious jet aircraft (which can rescue some downed aviators or single shipwreck survivors in its second seat), we need a true medevac craft, and a potent armed scout which could provide armed overwatch for our rescue squad and coast guard ships. This set of copters provides just such a capability for a new navy or coast guard at a fraction of, say, the Seahawk alone.
The weapons suite on the "armed scout" version of the Lakota is flexible and its HUD allows new pilots to rapidly learn to operate the onboard "pod" cannon as well as air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles - with either of the two most popular combat role-playing systems in Second Life. For a small SL country with limited funds and personnel, this is a quick and cheap path to a realistic helicopter squadron with basic combat and search-and-rescue capabilities.
Finally, textures and aircraft size are both modifiable, so that the livery can be changed easily from "U.S. Army" to either no livery or to any nation or team livery with any good image editor.
A great deal with potential for customization to suit individual needs!
One Very Well Done Helicopter
The Lakota is a good looking and great flying helicopter. The textures are very realistic with a touch of "Dusty" appearance to make them look a bit used. The sounds are awesome with the turbines spooling up and down on start and shutdown. The craft comes with VICE and TCS as well as CMS and the weapons systems in the HUD and chat are superb! I love arming the Hellfire missiles and just touching the HUD map to select a target! In air to air mode the radar actually shows a targeting box that locks on the the nearest target. The flight scripting is first class and this craft is easy to fly but at the same time has awesome performance. It crosses sim borders well and the radar is very quick to respond after a crossing. WELL DONE Tig!
