This is an extra long Edwardian hat pin with draw, sheath, and multiple attack animations created by Mythril. It features a monogram decoration at the top and has been designed to work perfectly with the Gainsborough Hat.
The giant hats worn at the start of the 20th century were kept in place with hat pins up to a foot long. After Leoti Blaker's famous retaliation against a masher on the train in 1903, more women took to defending themselves with the best weapon they had at hand.
By the end of that decade, many men bewailed the "hatpin peril" and called for measures to disarm the women (but not, of course, to do anything about the harassment they were subjected to!). It was an international issue, with police chiefs in Paris and Hamburg considering restrictions on length. Laws restricting hat pins to no more than 9 inches passed in Chicago, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, New Orleans, and even Sydney, Australia - where 60 women went to jail rather than pay fines for their hat pins! Suffragists pointed to these laws as further examples of why women should be allowed to vote and have a say in how they were being policed.
There are 3 hat pin styles available separately, each with their own unique texture HUDs: crowned, lily, and monogram (which includes all 26 letters for your personalization needs!). In addition to the animated set, there is a static version included so that you can have multiple pins sticking out every which way. The pins can also be used with any hat you like - just position as needed!
