Early Greek Icons, drawn by a monk of holy Mount Athos. The first one shows Holy Mary holding the babe Jesus in her arms. The second one is Christ the Teacher, holding a Gospel declaring: "I am the Light of the world". His halo includes the letters "I AM," symbolizing his divinity and referring to his words, "Before Abraham was, I AM." The Greek letters "IC" and "XC" in the upper corners of the icon are abbreviations of the Greek words for "Jesus" and "Christ."
The two icons are connected to each other, forming only one prim. The icons are double sided: one side is normal, the other bright.
