Infinity Freight Trains v1.3
------------------------------------

Built to run on the Second Life Rail Road and any other railroad of that setup, including Bellisseria and also Bibian's track system.
Try the demo on the SLURL below.

The trains from Infinity Freight take a new look at the principles of running a train on the SLRR - each train is a one-object linkset.
Many trains have previously made use of 'follower' scripts in loose wagons and coaches, and then those follow the locomotive along the tracks.

With the Infinity trains, the wagons are fully attached to the locomotive, and update their positions to stay on the tracks, and follow the loco everywhere it goes. This now makes riding a train almost as quick and convenient as rezzing a car to go for a drive :)

If you play GTFO! (get the freight out) in-world, then the trains are fully game-ready for you, with full GTFO function built-in, straight out of the box. Cargo loads and unloads automatically - crates, logs and minerals loading gradually in stages when you take a freight job.
There is a free version of the GTFO! game if you want to try it out, see the in-world vendor.
Also join the Get The Freight Out! group - its full of cool people!

Locomotive Features :
Smooth turning SLRR diesel engine locomotive, 20 speeds
Engine start / stop with diesel engine sounds
Flip and re-rail functions
Dynamic camera views and zoom into mouselook
Camera reset system to correct glitchy simcrossings
Locomotive horn sound
Rotating wheels at matching speeds
Working doors and sliding windows
Physics shape so you can walk around on it when not driving
Phantom while driving per recommended for the SLRR
Fuel consumption system (plus option to turn this off)
Re-fuel instructions and locations of fuel pumps
'Fuel Cam' view that looks out over the filler cap
Speed & fuel display in or out of mouselook
Colour change menu, choose set colours or add your own custom shade
Lights with on/off control
Projector front headlight (requires advanced lighting in graphics)
Driver plus 3 passengers, with passenger eject system
Driver sit position adjust system
Security : only the owner can drive it
'Unsit' Detection - the train sends an IM of its location and waits for you

Wagons :
3 wagon and 5 wagon versions included
Wagons linked to the loco and self-update their positions on the track
Wagons with heavy crates
Wagons with mineral loads
Wagons with lumber loads
Wagons with liquids tankers
Fully GTFO! game ready built-in (requires GTFO hud available separately)
Fuel consumption and speed are affected by apparent load 'weight'
Hide or show the cargo by manual or GTFO control
Mineral wagons - click each wagon to change from coal to other loads
'Pack Away' system to reduce train size, helps re-rezz in small rez zones

ALSO in the pack :
- Heterocera Railroads Map HUD -
This is a map of the SLRR on the Heterocera Atoll continent, with a map marking system to help you navigate and work out how to get to the rails-less-travelled! Just wear the hud, and click for its menu.
Now updated with place names on the map.

-
If you just want to go for a ride with no wagons, there is a separate Locomotive in the folder, this has no cargo options.

Also included is a texture template for the wagons so you can customise, and a 'modifiers guide' to help with other customisation, telling you what will work and what won't.
Logos are on separate texture faces so you can re-brand them easily.
Instructions are included in the modifiers guide of how to make up your own train with a mix of different wagons. This requires a bit of unlinking / relinking prims - if you struggle with this IM me for help :)

Try the demo train at the rezzer, it is linked to the SLRR so you can go for a little journey!

In the package :
- separate locomotive, to just go for a ride
- 5 trains of 3 wagons
- 5 trains of 5 wagons
- heavy crates / minerals / logs / tankers / mixed wagons
- interactive map HUD of the Atoll railroads
- instructions / quickstart guide / modifiers guide
- wagon texture template (for personal use only, not to be re-sold)
- landmarks of rail yards to rez trains & re-fuel

Land Impact :
Loco only : 46 LI
Loco + 3wagons train : 110 to 119 LI
Loco + 5wagons train : 153 to 167 LI

Permissions :
Trains / loco : Prims/mesh are mod & copy. Scripts copy only.
Hud : copy only

LOD (level of detail) :
Carefully set LOD so it does not crunch into a bunch of triangles as you zoom out, even on moderate graphics settings.

Includes free updates, and also to keep with the development of GTFO!

Any questions pop me an IM or a notecard :)

Great Trains !!!

Runs well despite the trials of SL lag and sim crossings. Would enjoy seeing more locomotive styles and passenger cars, but that's simply a wish, not a complaint. I recommend this to anyone wanting a relatively stress free run on the SLRR.

This train is such an awesome build. I have had MANY trains for the SLRR, and the fact that this is made as a linkset is a great way to use it on the tracks. No more worrying about disconnected cars and it runs so smoothly. Thanks!

I bought the flatbed truck from this creator and wanted more. But only a freighter ship and... a train *yawns and sighs*. I've always known about the SL Rail Road and kind of ho-hummed it because I "didn't get it". What fun is there in following some track with no real control other than speed?

However, never say never, right? So I decided to go have a look-see at the in-world DEMO. I read the instructions, pretty simple. I clicked the rezzer and hopped on. I made it go. I HAD TO HAVE ONE!

I never realized how much fun driving a locomotive can be (and how amazingly relaxing it is) and having the GTFO goal added to it is definitely icing on the cake. Beautiful textures (and amazingly-fast rezzing) and you even get some texture templates to roll your own.

The price of this is a steal. People are spending 4-6,000 L$ on boats, folks, most of which are laughably large and unruly and drive like crap (except for a very few select creators).

This thing is definitely worth the asking price, works smoothly and wonderfully, looks awesome, too. As I passed a few campers on parcels and such I would get a few IMs asking "Can I have a ride?" LOL What a blast this thing is!

I was very skeptical but as an avid GTFO player, this blew my mind. If your looking for another way to enjoy the game, you cannot beat this. Awesome job!

Seeing these on MP, I was impressed but the price tag kept me from buying. Then I actually saw the train one day while traveling around Heterocera and the smoothness of the cars as they followed the locomotive and decided then and there I had to have it. From the first time I hopped in and started my travels around the atoll, all reservations about price had melted away. The best looking train by far that I've seen and the ride is amazing. We all hate sim crossing but this one handles it remarkably, and I don't have to worry about losing the cars following me. GTFO! ready, it handles the loading and unloading perfectly with the cargo appearing or disappearing perfectly in sync with the GTFO hud. I could go on but the best thing I can say about the train is..WOW! Thanks, Atomic.
