FAQ
~~~~~~~~
Q: Why does my lamp appear translucent?
A: Please update to a more recent version of your viewer.
Q: How come my lamp doesn't look smooth and shiny like in the product picture?
A: Normal, gloss, and specular features require Advanced Lighting Model. Instructions available at http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Featured-News/Get-the-New-Materials-Viewer-Today/ba-p/2051927
Q: Why are the included texture templates translucent?
A: Download and open with photoshop or gimp. The RGB channels store the actual colour texture while the alpha channel contains the glow map.
Instructions
~~~~~~~~
*** Custom tint ***: right click and choose edit. Choose "Select Face" and click on the parts you want to edit (Cushion/frame) and select the desired colour under the Texture tab. The included script will remember the tint you select for the lamp in both the on and off states.
*** Editing the texture *** Download included on/off textures as tga, edit in Photoshop or Gimp. The lamp_on texture may appear translucent because the alpha channel stores the glow map. Edit only the RGB channels of the textures. Upon finishing, upload as "lamp_on" and "lamp_off" and drag into the content of the lamp. NOTE: select the lamp itself with "Edit linked" to make sure you drag the textures into the lamp itself and not the shadow.
*** Adjusting brightness/range *** right click and choose edit. Check "Edit linked" and click on the lamp. You can find the light settings near the bottom of the Features tab.

Annoying
Maybe some are very proficient in altering scripts. Why couldn't you just make a menu to select lamp colors and a simple on and off selection instead of editing the object. I tried following your instructions and just got frustrated. Not using the lamp. Wasted money,,,.
