Please Note: a Full Perms version of this product is also available.
A set of rounded boulders with completely seamless, 3d painted textures and baked normal maps.
A total of 6 individual boulder meshes.
'Clean', 'Mossy', and Snow-covered (new in Version 2) material sets provided. The Clean material is highly customizable for a variety of stone types.
Mesh
Each boulder mesh is approximately 1m in diameter. Each is provided as 2 versions, with and without complex physics:
The basic mesh for each boulder is 0.5 LI and has a very basic physics shape. It is suitable for most purposes - objects and avatars will collide with them, but they will not be suitable as walkable surfaces.
The other version (labeled with 'physics' in the object name) uses a more complex physics shape and are 2 LI each. These can be walked on. It is recommended that you only use this higher land-impact version if it is necessary, and at all other times use the basic versions to keep prim usage down.
If you wish to, for example, create a path of stepping stones, the alternative to using the complex physics versions is to use an invisible prim for the physics, and use the basic versions, setting their physics type to 'phantom.'
For the basic (no complex physics) meshes, the following explains the land impact at various scales:
1m: 0.5 LI
2m: 1 LI
4m: 2 LI
Textures
This product takes full advantage of advanced materials. You will need to have 'advanced lighting' enabled in your viewer to see the effects of normal and specular maps.
Please see the SL wiki for more information on materials: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Second_Life%27s_light_model_for_materials
All textures have been 3d painted and baked to be 99.99% seamless.* All 6 boulder meshes share the same texture space to keep them as efficient as possible.
Textures have been provided in 1024k and 512k resolutions. Due to the fact that they share the same texture, you probably want to use the high res diffuse, especially if you want to scale up the boulders. As a compromise, you could use the low res normal and spec maps.
The 'clean' material set is highly customizable, allowing easy set up of a variety of stone types.
For example,
Dark, volcanic rock:
Color: Grey (127,127,127)
Glossiness: 200
Environment: 150
Specular Color: White
Brown, slightly shiny:
Color: Brown (150,100,60)
Glossiness: 50
Environment: 50
Specular Color: White
These are suggestions only, and may require further adjustment to get the desired effect in your chosen lighting conditions.
*(I would say 100%, but you could probably find some small seams if you look hard enough, especially on the low res textures)
