KinEx - Remote Instant Messenger
Remote Instant Messenger
What does it listen for?
Basically, it listens for all chat that happens within chat range, and uses sensors to pick up anyone who approaches it, all of which you have complete control over, and of course, both options can be toggled.
How does it tell me what it hears?
The RIM uses 2 methods to let you know what's going one, either one specifically or both, the choice is yours.
First, the obvious, it Instant Messages, but instead of just doing it the run-of-the-mill way, it gives you the option to Instant Message another account entirely! So if for example, you have a friend who can't be at a tutorial, you could simply wear the RIM, and it will IM your friend transmitting everything that's going on, right from your hud.
That sounds complicated!
Absolutely not, to set the person who's receiving the instant messages, you would simply type /500 target thier name, for example:
/500 target Kindred Skytower
Then the RIM will let you know that everything is good, and they're already listening in. By default, the RIM's owner will be the receiver of the messages.
The E-Mail, is Just as easy, by default, it's off. To enable it, simply type:
/500 email your@address.com
And the RIM will let you know, it's got your e-mail address and it's going working already. To prevent e-mail spam, the RIM allows you to set a message buffer, so it will listen for X number of messages before sending them, by default, this number is 10.
On a side note about the e-mails, there are several e-mail servers who do not accept e-mails from SL, Hotmail i have tested, and it's worked without a single hitch.
Ok, that sounds good and all but.. is it detectable?
It's as undetectable as it can be, there's no way to hide a scripted object from a sensor looking for scripted objects, but you can simply press a button and make it turn nearly invisible! You can also change it's name through chat command, "/500 name I am a Lamp!", and suddenly, sensors think it's a lamp! (although that might be a little suspicious)
Alright fine, but how fast is it?
This is the shining point of the RIM, while other e-mail listeners only do one email every ---20 seconds---, and die under fire, the RIM is capable of 2 emails a SECOND!, and for the IM's it can do 5 Messages a SECOND!, so you're hearing what's going on in real-time, no giant delays, or massive back buffers that crash the script and pop up that little ! when they crash. The RIM is designed for absolute stability, compiled in mono.
That was alot of typing!
You noticed that too? That's all there is to say about the rim, it's got every feature you could ever need for monitoring your land.
