Super Simple to start! Just rez the egg sac and feeder!
Krells are artificial lifeforms. They are completely autonomous, and they are born, eat, reproduce, move around, grow, evolve, and die. Their brain is a unique artificial neural network - they have not been "programmed" at all regarding what to do. Rather, their brains develop over succesive generations, and in this way they learn to eat food. The ones that learn to eat will reproduce and pass on their DNA to the offspring.
When a new Krell is born, it has a random set of connections in its brain. Moving and spinning costs the Krell energy. Eventually one will have "the right stuff" to be able to survive in it's environment. Then, when it reproduces, It passes on its DNA to the offspring, but with about a 1.4% genetic mutation. Hence, the offspring may be slightly smarter or dumber than the parent.
Krells eat the little green food plants called Fronds. You control the Frond availability, thereby controlling the environment for the Krells. Eventually they will form a colony (a "swell") of Krells. YOU can control the food distribution which will strongly affect how the Krells will evolve.
A Krell is born small, and grows when it eats. Each Krell is born with a unique name. It reproduces in cycles while it is both young enough and old enough. After a certain age it will not reproduce, and when it is older (more than 10 minutes) it may or may not die. When a Krell dies, it turns brown and stops moving. Eventually it will disappear on its own. If a Krell can't find food, it will run out of energy and die.
When a Krell is turned over, it will try to right itself.
You can manually manipulate a Krell: position the mouse over it and hold down left mouse. You can then drag the Krell around. You may "force-feed" the Krell this way by putting it up to a piece of food.
An option on each Krell can be set called Preserve: In this mode, the individual will not die and can be kept as a single pet.
NOTHING MORE TO BUY!
