Le Soleil Royale
This is my latest and greatest sailing ship, based on the design of 'Le Soleil Royale' (The Royal Sun), a magnificent French 'Ship of the Line' commissioned by Louis XIV and launched in 1670.
But this is more than a Sailing Ship its a fusion of 17th Century magnificence and 21st Century grooviness, a beautiful floating Palace packed with features for your enjoyment...
She has been built to the scale of the original vessel...
Length (including bow mast) 72.37 metres
Length (Hull) 58.47metres
Width (at widest point) 19 metres
Height (to top of tallest mast) 73.3 metres
She is easily large enough to take on a number of roles,
Club, Store, Skyhome or perhaps a Centre Piece for your sim. Although this is a huge and detailed ship, she weighs in at a surprisingly unprimmy 550 prims (in basic configuration with open sails). Le Soleil Royale is designed to be a stationary building and cannot be sailed.
You can choose between furled and open sails and deploy or store away the 32 cannon (9 prims each). The cannons can be fired and have sound and particle effects.
The Foredeck contains a hidden swimming pool just click the deck to reveal or hide the pool
The vast decks provide plenty of room for partying, camping and of course battling with the English.
Up in the masts there are no less than six crows nests, which provide nice intimate little areas, the largest of these conceals a Hot Tub big enough for 6 avatars.
At the stern of Le Soleil Royale is the Captains Cabin and on the deck below this you will find the State Room. This is decorated with Baroque style wallpaper and Persian Rugs adorn the floor. A Large spiral Staircase leads down to the Ballroom.
The Ballroom decor takes it's inspiration from The Hall of Mirrors in the Palace of Versailles, only, instead of mirrors, huge arched windows look out onto the ocean, crystal chandaliers hang from the spectacular ceiling which is covered from end to end with beautiful oil paintings. A big dance floor (not animated) covers the floor, a simple click and this vanishes to reveal a glass covered aquarium, this is big enough to house a small shark or two or you can use the 6 varieties of swimming tropical fish which are included along with seaweed, coral rezzers and bubble rocks. There are 3 large statues (textures) at the end of the ballroom, the central one of these is a secret door, click and it opens into the bedroom which features large windows, oil paintings and blue and gold silk drapes.
There are teleporters throughout the ship including the crows nests.
I took a look around for furnishings and couldn't really find what I wanted so I made my own. All of the furnishings are designed to match the decor of the ship and everything is copyable, the furniture pack is included in the price and contains...
The Kings Bed (19 prims)- a large four poster bed in blue and gold with 55 animations.
Harpsichord (50 prims)- a playable harpsichord in period style with painted lid and music.
Captains Desk (4 prims) - a large wooden desk with wood carvings and leather top.
Baroque Chairs (10 prims) in 3 colours
Settees (25 prims) in 2 colours
Large Throne (12 prims)
12 Oil paintings (1 prim) for you to place around the ship
'Le Soleil Royale' is packaged using Rez Faux, so it's a simple click to deploy her, both sail sets and the cannon are also packaged with Rez Faux for easy deployment.
