its ok but...
seriously i just want a gun that can be made smaller to fit my AV :( unfortunately this wasn't it...good gun though, high quality for L$69, if you don't need to make it smaller...you can make it larger but not smaller, to bad...back to MP to find one...
great weapon!!!!!
ive always loved the M-1 carbine. to find one in sl that is is good--its modifiable and unlike many weapons at this price--includes a sling version its looks awesome--again I say---great weapon
For the money, can't beat it.
I own one in real life, so I'm very judicious about look, form and function.
Let's start with the negatives:
- Bayonet lug, but no bayonet. Even if it was just for looks, I would very much have preferred to have a bayonet for this weapon.
- No fire selector switch. This weapon is the select fire variant, the M2 Carbine. My Real-World counterpart started life as one of these, but was rendered semi-automatic to comply with U.S. laws. There is a cutout on the lefthand side of the forward stock, towards the front of the receiver where the fire selector switch used to go. Along with other internal parts removed, that's the difference between the M1 and the M2 Carbine. In short, M1 has no happy switch. This model lacks a cutout for the fire selector switch entirely.
- No optional top covers/heat shields. Wood was the standard on the M1 carbine, but many, especially in the aftermarket, received stamped steel heatshields, which do a better job at dissipating heat from extended firing sessions. I also owned at one time a Kahr/Thompson replica of the M1 carbine, and let me tell you, you get happy with this weapon, and that wood starts smoking(I've done it, very hard not to, it's such a fun little rifle.)
- Sling model's sling is far too large for a female avy. Might be a problem for some, it's a problem for me, but it might not be a problem for others. Your mileage may vary.
Those are the cons, but now let's cover the pros.
- Immaculate modelling. Other than the listed faults, this thing is dead on. The wood, even the worn steel finish, it looks PROPER. It's the proper size, smallish, about the same size as a current era M4 carbine.
- Amazing sound. As said, I've owned replicas of the real thing in the past and I currently own a 1944-Date stamped real-deal. Something about the design imparts a slight, springy quality to the firing sound when you pull the trigger, and you've captured it. It sounds PROPER. Really puts the feel of the real thing.
