A small sized commode "a vantaux" after the one made by Martin Carlin.
Lavishly decorated, this piece of new and elegant lines is decorated with ebony panels and a frieze of gilt bronze mounts, in the particular style that is associated to M. carlin's work throughout his career as one of the best cabinet makers of late 18th century

Delivered for Madame Adelaide, (Louis XV's daughters) for the furnishing of her country residence. Le Chateau de Bellevue, the set was composed of a commode, two corner cupboard, a desk, and a console

c 1781

Currently displayed at the chateau de Versailles.
