I have been a Tolkien fan for a very long time and I'd always wanted to make my version of Bilbo's legendary dagger "Sting" from the Hobbit. Now thanks to the magic of Mesh and LSL I've managed to make a reasonable facsimile.

Please watch the video if you'd like to see more detail than is available in the image.

The dagger is fully scripted to act as a passive sensor. Every six seconds it scans the grid up to 256 meters in all directions; it then counts the number of avatars and then uses this calculation to adjust the glow and light emanation of the botanical motif on the blade.

There are also some additional special parameters in the script that further menaces the effect: when no avatars are in scan range the dagger goes completely dark. When there are over ten in range it goes fullbright. You can tweak the script as much as you want.

PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT a reproduction of the weak looking version from the LOTR movies, this is an entirely original design, conjured up from my imagination and love of the books.

Pretty okay if only we can copy it so I can adjust it on different avis since the ones I use are in different heights.

Really perfect! I was looking for a sword for RP and this was just what I wanted. I have a medieval-faun-goat-rouge thing going lol. I did stretch it down a little smaller to small knife size (for me, large sewing needle for others). But, it really is gorgeous. Thanks so much!

The blade itself is beautiful, but it's no copy. Afraid to edit it. :|
