This is a replica of a traditional mesoamerican rural house. During precolumbian times the majority of the population outside major urban areas, be it Aztec, Mayan, Zapotec, Mixtec or other local cultures, lived in houses such as this.

Such a building, a home for an ordinary peasant family was a one-room rectangular hut with an earth floor, a low doorway, and no chimney or windows. Walls were made of wood, or of wattle and daub, the traditional building material of the countryside. The most common form of roof, depicted over and over again in the manuscripts. was a simple gabled construction made of thatch.

Houses like these are still used in some rural areas of Mexico or Guatemala.

This is a low-prim building that includes a linked, "touch to open" door. It is a perfect structure for those who want a realistic ancient or mesoamerican style house for commoners.

Enjoy!
