April 21 2014 - I just gave away my 5000th copy of the MEV v2 and to celebrate I've just this moment put up version 3. It's down there near the bottom of this listing if you're interested.
----------
A while back I was really really bored - it was Boxing day and all my typical SL haunts were deserted - so I threw together my original My Eye View camera HUD. Mostly because I got really tired of spending all that money on shoes and never being able to see them when I was walking. Hey vanity can be useful.
It turned out to be fairly popular - especially with folks who are using non-standard sized avatars. I suppose if I couldn't see below my knees, and a petite avatar only comes up to my knees, then they could have a - err... Bigger problem than I did.
To celebrate Marketplace's new Direct Delivery system - that is to say "because some time soon the old reliable Magic Boxes will stop working" - I've got a new version which, after much thought and soul searching, I've decided to christen "My Eye View v2.0".
All this clever doo dad does is give you some control over your camera's position. Instead of looking down on your avatar it places the camera lower and lets you pan up and down, and zoom in and out to suit your preferences. The HUD keeps the camera at that location so you can move around and not have it snap back to the default position. Hitting the Esc key will return the camera to the position you've set with the HUD as well.
There are two other functions that I quite like but have a tough time explaining - scripters should never write documentation or marketing copy :)
The first is what I call Camera Float. This is the button on the far right hand side of the HUD. When it's activated the HUD lets your camera float around behind you as you move, so when you start to walk it takes a moment for the camera to start moving, then when you stop it takes a moment to catch up and stop. There are four settings - off, low, medium, and high, and it's probably easier if you just click it and walk around some than for me to keep babbling about it. It's cool, try it :)
The other function is new for version 2.0 and I call it Auto-Pan. It's the button on the lower left corner of the HUD. When it's turned on it simply causes the camera to snap up or down as you're climbing or descending an incline. Just like you'd look up when climbing a flight of stairs. Auto-Pan only works when you're walking, running, or crouch walking so it won't be making you airsick when you're flying - or seasick when you're swimming :)
So that's the MEV 2.0 - ohhh, a cool sounding acronym - have fun, tell you friends, wake the neighbors and phone the kids :)
good HUD
it works really well and the options are good. it is a must have for anyone with an avatar of an unusual height.
Good and cheap
Thanks for the great price and a decent product. It a much better view I use this everyday and have it saved to every outfit.
Outstanding View Hud
I've had this item since 2013. Has helped me a lot to be able to navigate SL.
LOVE IT!
Don't be small without it! Seriously! This little gadget is the best Tiny/Micro/Petite/Nano camera out there. Plus it's adjustable depending on which size of avatar you have, or how far out you wanna be zoomed. Easily worth a bunch of lindens, but for FREE??? Don't pass this up!! LOVE IT!!!!
FANTASTIC HUD
I wear this hud everywhere and especially when riding motorcycles.. would be lost without it.. LOVE THIS
EXCELLENT
One of the most useful HUD I have purchased. Best it is FREE. I believe everyone should have one, whether for photography or for looking at any of those finer details when dressing or building
