Notecard - Outfit Switch Glitch [RESOLVED] - notes by Floofy Vixen

Symptom:

Cannot switch outfits - "Wear" button is grayed out.

Cause:

Sometimes it is inventory issues, sometimes it is grid issues, sometimes it is cache issues, but the persistent issue I ran into was Second Life not recognizing that the outfits were different.

I have many similar outfits, sometimes only an item or two difference. Second Life and Firestorm clients would not let me change outfits because they didn't recognize them as different outfits.

Solutions:

Method 1: Main folder/subfolders:

Set up one or more Main or Primary folders for each AV, then add the clothing as partial outfits, with just the clothing items. Right click on the partial outfits in the list to add or remove them from the current outfit.

Method 2: Unique Item:

Create a unique item for each outfit so that Second Life always considers the outfits to be different. I have been using a small invisible prim, with the name of the matching outfit.

Here it is, all set up to be duplicated, renamed, and added to your outfits:

Indicator object:

*** It's embedded in the notecard, request a copy via the marketplace.

Or create your own manually:

Create a small square prim, right click this object, which is the new default indicator object, and choose Take
Right click on it in inventory, Rename it to give it a custom name.
Right click it in inventory, choose Attach To - try the Avatar Center spots.
Tip: It's okay if it conflicts with something to start with, once the attachment point is set you can use Add.

Next, Right click on the indicator object in your inventory, choose Edit
Resize it down as small as you can:
- On the Object tab: Set all 3 size fields to 0.01000 - or use the object resizing controls
Make it transparent:
- On the Texture Tab: Set Transparent to 100

Right click on the indicator object in Inventory and choose Detach from Yourself

Make several copies of the indicator object in Inventory:
- Right click item in inventory, choose copy, right click in inventory, choose paste

Now you are ready to set up the outfits:

Rename one indicator object to your outfit name, and add it to the appropriate outfit:
- Wear your outfit, right click indicator item in inventory, choose add, then update your outfit by saving it.

Second Life will always consider the outfits to be different now, and will not gray out the Wear button.
