This is a clock that has a built in (invisible) sun, so in a dark area, it looks quite realistic. The globe slowly spins once every 24 hours. The side facing its built-in sun is always the side facing the Earth at any given moment.
The globe is specular and normal mapped so that the water is shiny but the ground isn't, and so that mountains look mountainy.
I didn't bother with tilting the globe because that would mean larger, more laggy scripts to calculate the exact angle of the sun at any given moment. I could do a version like that if enough people want.
- Built in sun
- Advanced Materials
- Always faces built in sun according to real world time
- Low lag, low footprint script
- Only 2 prims
This is actually very cool...
I resized it to about twice my size. The SL sun causes a double reflection on the water, so I built a small sun and placed it to show where the Earth sun sits. I'm not sure what I will end up doing with this thing, but I really think it's cool. Nice job...
