Palm Tree Rocks in the Wind

This tree gently rocks in response to the wind. It will rock in the direction that the wind is going and rock farther when the wind is stronger. Yes, SL has wind and it is done using a cool, interesting, complex, fluid dynamics simulation. See http://www.multires.caltech.edu/teaching/demos/java/stablefluids.htm for a visual demonstration of how this works and some references. This causes the wind to swirl around in ways that are impossible for us mere mortals to predict. Now with Wind Palm you can get a visual indication of which direction and how strong the wind is blowing. Wind Palm also folds up its leaves at night and opens them up again at dawn. You can make Wind Palm fold/unfold its leaves by touching them.

Left click on the palm leaves and they will fold down or open up. They also fold down at dusk and open back up at dawn. Yes I know there is no species of palm tree in RL that does this. Fortunately this is SL and I can make a tree do interesting behavior if I want to! Anyone, not just the owner, may click on the palm leaves to make them fold/unfold.
