It emits a bell sound when touched. You can delete that sound and script through the editor and then it will become a regular decoration item.

Good But Wish It Was A Bit Louder
Top says it all, but for the price it's a good buy. Was going to buy a different bundle with a bell and a laptop. Picking this one up let me spend a lil less and afford a laptop in SL that had a few more cool looking features. Over all pretty happy with that and the bell. Who knows, maybe an update some day will give it a nice louder ding. But it is mod, so maybe I can do something about it.
But yeah, louder ding would be a better ding.
